Ysgol Bro Lleu Primary School in Penygroes, Gwynedd, Wales is benefitting from a new single storey 270m² modular building for use as a nursery. The children at Ysgol Bro Lleu will now be able to move from nursery years into the main primary school, all within the one site, easing the transition for young children.

The nearly zero-energy building (nZeb) consists of:

Two classrooms, two sets of toilet facilities, two kitchen areas, staff toilets, nappy changing rooms, two storage areas and office areas. Mac Zero completed all internal and external works to the building, including flooring, painting, IPS systems to toilet areas and the provision of all kitchen furniture.

Externally, the building has a mixed facade incorporating insulated panels and Thermowood finish. The windows are all triple-glazed and fitted with theft-proof glazing detail.

Mac Zero also completed all external groundworks, including a new attenuation system to prevent any risk of flooding, in accordance with the local council’s requirements.

Delivering a sustainable building for the future, this highly insulated and airtight modular building has already achieved an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Rating A, which will contribute to efficiencies within the school’s future running costs.
