A single-storey, low carbon in-operation expansion project that delivered a BCAR-compliant standalone classroom block, with a Building Energy Rating (BER) of A, and an air tightness test less than 1m³/hr/m².
Mac Zero constructs 82m² single-storey modular classroom block for Gaelscoil Ruairí
PROJECT INFO
With huge demand for additional spaces at the school, this is Gaelscoil Ruairí’s third modular build project with Mac Zero, following the installation of a two-storey modular classroom block in the summer of 2022 and a further two-storey modular classroom block with SEN provision in the summer of 2023.
In addition to the phase two modular building, the team also built a bright and colourful SEN outdoor play area, which has been of great benefit to the school community over the past year.
This third phase of Gaelscoil Ruairí’s expansion plan has added a further 82sqm of additional learning space, which includes classroom facilities and stores.
The nearly zero-energy building (nZeb) is highly insulated and has achieved a ‘best in class’ BER A rating. Built off-site at Mac Zero’s manufacturing facility, the entire project took just two months from start to completion.
M+E PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS
Heating - Plumbing, ventilation and installation of an Air Conditioning heating and cooling system. Room controls have been installed with ease of use in mind.
Extract ventilation - S&P extract fans are controlled by presence detectors.
Efficient LED light fittings throughout with programmable PIR presence detection sensors.
SITEWORKS
Installation of foundations, radon protection works and surfacing.
