QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Job Purpose:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be working within the Commercial team, supporting the Commercial Director in managing all aspects of pre-contract and post-contract commercial activities across Mac Zero. Working independently with other Quantity Surveyor's who are embedded on contract delivering projects, achieving cost savings and providing insightful reporting to Senior Management. You'll also be ensuring commercial controls are in place for all work undertaken.

Main Duties & Accountabilities:

  • Preparation of subcontractor tender packages

  • Appointment and management of subcontractors

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies

  • Measure, value, and certify work completed on site

  • Prepare bills of quantities and tender documentation

  • Analyse tenders and assist with contractor selection

  • Manage variations, claims, and change control procedures

  • Monitor project costs and report on cost performance

  • Prepare interim valuations and final accounts

  • Advise on procurement strategies and contract selection

  • Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and company requirements

  • Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and site teams

  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities

  • Onsite measure of works including civil works.

  • Contact administration of NEC/JCT/PWC contracts.

  • Commercial reporting on cashflow and CVR

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field

  • 3 to 5 years min post grad experience. Preferably working with a Main Contractor and experience in managing multiple projects.

  • Proven experience in modular construction desirable but not essential.

  • Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC, FIDIC)

  • Good knowledge of construction methods and materials

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions

  • Office-based with regular site visits

  • May require travel to project locations

  • Full-time role (hours may vary depending on project demands)
